He was Postmaster of Niles from to , and Treasurer of Berrien County for ten years, from Jan. 1, , to Dec. 31, He was a gentleman highly respected in the city and county, which was his home for more than fifty years. He died at Niles, Dec. 26, At Michigan he has taught Contracts, Insurance, Introduction to the Legal System, and Law and Society Seminars. In he had a Rockefeller research grant at the University of Wisconsin, out of which came the award-winning book "Insurance and Public Policy." The book is a study of the historical development of insurance law.
